How We Got Started (and Why We Do Things Differently)
Helms Garage Doors came out of frustration. Not ours—our neighbors'. We kept hearing the same stories: technicians who showed up late (or not at all), pricing that doubled after the work started, and repairs that fell apart a few months down the road.
So we started doing it ourselves. The idea was simple: show up when you say you will, charge what you quoted, and do work you'd stand behind. Turns out, that's a pretty low bar—but a lot of companies still can't clear it.
Tye Helms built this company around that idea, and the rest of the team joined because they believe the same thing. Between the four of us, we've got more than 50 years of hands-on garage door experience. We've fixed just about everything that can go wrong with a garage door—and a few things we never expected.
We're based in Huntersville and serve families and businesses across Mecklenburg, Union, Iredell, Gaston, Lincoln, Cabarrus, and Catawba counties. When you call us, you're talking to someone local who'll probably wave at you in the Publix parking lot next week.

Tye Helms
Owner
Tye started Helms Garage Doors because he got tired of hearing his neighbors complain about bad service. With years in the trades and a stubborn streak about doing things right, he built a company where the work speaks for itself. When he's not on a job site, he's usually somewhere around Huntersville with his family.
Jeni Helms
Owner
Jeni keeps the business side running smoothly—scheduling, customer follow-ups, and making sure nobody falls through the cracks. She's the reason your appointment gets confirmed the same day and the reason we remember your name when you call back.
David Cowart
Owner
David has been working on garage doors longer than most people have owned a house. He's the person we send when a job is tricky—unusual setups, commercial doors, or anything that's stumped someone else. There's very little he hasn't seen.
Jeremy Clark
Technician
Jeremy is the kind of technician who explains what he's doing while he does it. He handles everything from spring replacements to opener installs, and he takes his time to make sure everything's right before he packs up.
